The sky goddess who arches over the world. Egypt's celestial mother — her stars on your bedroom wall.
Nut was the goddess the Egyptians saw every night. They believed she was the sky itself — her body arched from horizon to horizon, her stars shining down on every sleeper. She swallowed the sun each evening and gave birth to it again each dawn, creating the daily resurrection that made life possible.
This canvas reimagines Nut in mid-century modern boho style — her star-spangled body in lapis blue and warm terracotta, the cosmic mother in a thoroughly modern aesthetic. Hang her above your bed, in a meditation space, or anywhere you want to fall asleep under ancient stars.

Who was Nut in Egyptian mythology?
Nut was the Egyptian sky goddess — the deity who literally was the night sky. Her body arched over the earth, with stars shining from her skin. She was the mother of Isis, Osiris, Set, and Nephthys, and she swallowed the sun each evening and gave birth to it again at dawn. The Egyptians painted her on the inside lids of sarcophagi so the dead would sleep under her protection.
Is this canvas suitable above a bed?
Yes — it's one of our top above-bed picks. Egyptians traditionally placed Nut imagery above sleeping spaces for nighttime protection, and the calming celestial palette promotes rest. See the full above-bed guide →
What style of room does this work with?
Works beautifully in mid-century modern, boho, celestial, and warm minimalist bedrooms. The lapis-and-terracotta palette pairs with rattan, oak, brass, and warm neutral walls. Less ideal for ultra-Scandinavian white spaces — it needs warmth around it.
